The world of Business Intelligence now entails everything from machine learning to artificial intelligence via a number of other interesting buzzwords. But despite its diversity and flexibility, isn’t it frustrating how software vendors approach delivery of BI through ‘point solutions’ focused on just one source of structured data? – writes Bill Tennant, ZAP’s VP Sales in an open letter to new OEM, alliance and technology partners.
I’ve written about the long-term value of big data previously, but it’s since become clear that mid-market businesses are drowning in disparate structured data. Multiple sources that must be merged before providing meaningful information.
Vendors who tackle this by providing point solutions – a means to review data contained within a single application – are ignoring the greater functional needs of their customers.
As a result, mid-market organizations become enslaved to a couple of key individuals who must manipulate, merge, and put in place a (manual) system that accurately pulls data from multiple sources together for regular delivery to stakeholders. Hardly agile, either! As a result, a decision must be made; either interact with less than sufficient information or spend time manipulating data in Excel and hope for the best.
But it doesn’t have to be this way…
Individuals leveraging self-service tools like Tableau and Power BI already see the value of interacting in an agile manner with their data sets and having this data accessible to them.
But spending time explaining data and business nuances and establishing processes to ensure there is clean data will drive success only for so long. Then comes the challenge of manipulating and merging multiple data sets to support deeper analysis, while maintaining data integrity.
ZAP’s introduction of a structured, automated data model with pre-packaged analytics for Tableau and Power BI has delivered a means to review best practice analytics and data, such as through a 360° view of the Customer – CRM and ERP data merged and available instantly – or through a 360° view of Production costs with HRMS and ERP data merged.
This provides that next-level delivery mechanism to start your agile, self-service deployment on the right foot. But what about those disparate systems that are central to your industry?
Integration and delivery of a data model and the accompanying analytics that incorporate data might be standard within your field, yet completely obscure to others. This is where value-added services can be added immediately and have been for years through ZAP OEM partnerships, managed services, and consultancy practices focused on specific vertical markets.
As a sales partner, this allows for the reduction of time required building the pieces that comprise the plumbing of a successful business intelligence strategy. These data integration and data delivery mechanisms can be the most challenging components… and can be completely automated through ZAP Data Hub.
If you are looking to automate the integration of data from a proprietary or standard system within a particular industry or product – while allowing for the rapid integration of other complex systems – AND require out-of-the-box analytics to create a successful, vertical focused product or consultancy, please email me at bill.tennant@Zapbi.com.
