Meet the ZAP Team: Madeleine Azcona

Madeleine Azcona ZAPBased in Sydney, Australia, Maddy joined ZAP back in July of last year in the role of Technical Account Manager. With over 20 years’ sales experience predominantly in the tech sector, Maddy has a passion for helping our partners and customers across APAC. Learn more about her below!

Hi Maddy, thanks for featuring on May’s Staff Spotlight! As always let’s start off with: where do you come from and where do you live?
I was born in Malaysia and came to Australia in my 20s on my own. I live in an inner-western suburb of Sydney, Australia.

What does your job entail?

As the Technical Account Manager, I’m responsible for managing opportunities with partners and direct inquiries. I help partners to understand ZAP’s value proposition in the marketplace and how to position our solution.

What is a typical day like?

A typical day will start with an hour walk with my dog, Max at 6am in the morning. Followed by a long black coffee while I plan for the day engaging with prospective partners and new leads wanting to know more about ZAP, organizing demonstrations and meetings, hosting webinars and presentations within the APAC region. So, it is a full day, every day, just how I like it – creating lasting relationships with customers, partners, and prospects.

What’s a common question you get from customers?

Can we organize a demo of your software? I never tire of hearing this question! Actually, it is what fuels me.

What do you like most about your job?

I enjoy telling customers about ZAP Data Hub and how our solution helps their business save time and money with a data management platform and analytics that helps them drive better outcomes for growth and trends. Customer satisfaction is important to me… When a customer or partner is satisfied, then I know I have contributed value to them, and that makes me happy.

What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

I love spending time with my beautiful partner (wife) and Max exploring the new hospitality scene in Sydney, or a cosy night in watching Netflix, or simply hanging out with friends and family sharing food and laughter. As Maya Angelou once said “I’m just someone who likes cooking and for whom sharing food is a form of expression.”

What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?

A fun fact about me is… I enjoy singing and dancing to 80’s music and cooking for family and friends.

Who are your favorite sports teams?

I love watching Australia’s National Rugby League (NRL) with my favorite ‘footy’ team being the Sydney Roosters. The Roosters are one of the oldest and most successful clubs in the NRL.

And any favorite bands/artists?

I don’t have any one particular favorite band or artist… as I love a good singalong bopping and dancing to music from the 1980s and pop music.

Film recommendations, please!

I don’t really have a favorite movie but I really get into drama and fantasy television series like True Blood, The Original, Vampire Diaries, and The Walking Dead.

What’s your signature dish?

I love cooking, it’s one of my passions that I learned from my father. I have many signature dishes actually, but the one that my friends love the most is my Crispy Pork Belly and my Satay Sauce. Mmmmm, lipsmacking good.

How would you describe the difference ZAP Data Hub makes to a business… And in just one sentence!

We connect to your ERP, CRM, and any other data sources you have in your organization and automate the creation of the data warehouse into a single unified model for faster reporting.

What are some of the differences between working for ZAP versus other companies you’ve been with?

The amount of support and training I have received from the APAC team – my manager, marketing, and customer success; also the presales and global marketing teams. The teams are very encouraging, supportive, and dedicated to customer success. I really appreciate everyone’s passion.

And finally, who would play you in the movie of your life?

Ellen because she is kind, courageous, generous, thoughtful, and sometimes funny. Just like me.
