Meet the ZAP Team: Dmitry Volodko

Senior Software Support Engineer Dmitry’s been with ZAP for more than six years.  He works closely with our field consultants and product development providing support across our customers’ data management & analytics environments.  He’s previously held systems engineer positions with GCOMM, Staples Rodway and Integral Technology Group, but what makes him tick?

Hi Dmitry, where are you talking to us from right now?
I’m based at ZAP’s office in Brisbane, capital of Queensland, in Australia.  I actually moved to Australia seven years ago, having spent nine years in New Zealand, and I was born in Belarus.

What does your job entail?
Working with all of our clients’ data management & analytics challenges and ultimately making sure they have a smile on their face when they see positive trends on the dashboards showing up on screen via ZAP Data Hub.

And what do you like to do outside of the working world?
Well in terms of sports, I liked watching the All Blacks while I was living in New Zealand, and I also now the Australian Tennis Tournaments.  Primarily I support Belarus teams where I can, then after that Australia and New Zealand!

For me personally, outside of work I’m all about family time, reading, walking, traveling, ice/roller-skating, biking, tennis, fishing… really, anything that makes you go outside and enjoy the outdoors.  As the American poet Wallace Stevens once wrote, “Perhaps the truth depends on a walk around the lake…”

What is a typical day like for you?
Each day is different, I have to say. Customer questions and queries can be tricky one day and easier another.  Each success though is the result of a lot of teamwork behind the scenes.

What do you like most about your job?
Being able to dig deeper into ZAP Data Hub with the help of development and analytics teams, and learning new things at the same time.

What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?
If they do not know that, maybe that is for a reason!

We’re coming round to your place tonight. What are you cooking, and what are the movie choices?
My signature dish is Pilaf. And I’ll give you a choice of three of my favorite movies, Salyut 7 and The Age of Pioneers – both gripping accounts of true-life space exploration – or Going Vertical, a drama about the 1972 Olympic Men’s Basketball Final.
