Meet the ZAP Team: Chris Reeves

Chris first joined ZAP back in 2006 as a developer. Following a number of well-deserved promotions within the company, he’s gone on to become ZAP’s Chief Technology Officer. We caught up with him for the final staff spotlight of the year…

Hi Chris, first things first… Where do you come from and where do you live?
I’ve lived in Brisbane (Australia) most of my whole life, apart from a 5 year stint in Los Angeles.

What does your job entail?
In a nutshell, managing the development, support, IT, documentation and training teams.

What is a typical day like?
I like to spend a few hours of the day working on hands-on tasks such as assisting with tickets, platform and feature design or documentation. The rest gets filled out with discussions, planning and (hopefully) enabling our teams.

What’s a common question you get from customers?
Where can I get one of those, “I love it when you talk data to me” T-shirts?

What do you like most about your job?
It’s hard to pick one thing, but I particularly enjoy the problem solving element of my role, and also the people I work with, they’re great.

What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
Spending time with the family, listening to and making music and exercising.

What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?
I am a classical pianist and I occasionally dabble in electronic music production.

Beethoven, Open Source

Who are your favorite movies?
Gladiator, Guardians of the Galaxy (I & II)

What’s your signature dish?
Fish burritos.

How would you describe the difference ZAP Data Hub makes to a customer… In just one sentence!
For some, it makes them fall back in love with data, all over again.

What are some of the differences of working for ZAP Vs. other companies you’ve worked for?
The degree of trust and autonomy is fantastic.
