Architecture
Zap Business Intelligence uses 100% Microsoft technology, minimizing the skills and resources needed to deploy analytics. The architecture:
- Is designed to minimize network bandwidth usage
- Is highly scalable from one to thousands of users, and is suitable for SMEs through to Enterprise implementations
- The solution comprises multiple components, including the client access layer, the presentation layer, business intelligence components, business intelligence core, and external components.
Data sources
Data sources can include:
- OLAP Cubes: OLAP data sources support a connection to an OLAP cube hosted in an instance of Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services 2008 (or 2005). The majority of Zap Business Intelligence reports, including analysis reports, KPIs, scorecards, and dashboards, use OLAP data sources for all of their information.
- Reporting Services: If you host a package of relational reports in an instance of Microsoft Reporting Services, Zap Business Intelligence supports Reporting Services as a data source. This enables you to gain all the benefits from Reporting Services reports while providing users with a single reporting environment. You can integrate real-time reports and geo maps from Reporting Services into Zap reports and dashboards, and slice them by any dimension.
- Web Services: Information available in traditional websites can be integrated into a report. Embedded Flash objects and HTML forms are displayed and function within the application in the same way that they would in the Internet Explorer browser. For example, a SharePoint URL might be included in a report.
